- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup whole milk
For the Garlic Butter Topping:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and garlic powder.
- Add the cold, diced butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to incorporate the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Pour in the milk and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
- Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the tops of the biscuits are golden brown.
- While the biscuits are baking, prepare the garlic butter topping. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, dried parsley flakes, garlic powder, and salt. Mix well.
- As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush the tops with the garlic butter mixture while they are still warm.
- Serve the biscuits warm and enjoy the delicious, cheesy goodness!
