For the Biscuits:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup whole milk

For the Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Add the cold, diced butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to incorporate the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Pour in the milk and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
  6. Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the tops of the biscuits are golden brown.
  8. While the biscuits are baking, prepare the garlic butter topping. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, dried parsley flakes, garlic powder, and salt. Mix well.
  9. As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush the tops with the garlic butter mixture while they are still warm.
  10. Serve the biscuits warm and enjoy the delicious, cheesy goodness!
